Screen Yorkshire is opening doors to the world of the screen industries for those in York and North Yorkshire with its newest training programme Screen Crafts & Digital Skills Bootcamp.
Set to launch in December 2024, this part-time programme is designed to provide essential hands-on training for anyone eager to break into, or career pivot into the screen industries. Whether you’re a freelancer, graduate, career changer, or have relevant experience in other sectors, this bootcamp provides the tools to transition smoothly into one of the UK’s most dynamic fields.
Over the course of four months, participants will receive training in one of four key areas: Art Department, Factual, Lighting, or Post Production. No prior film or TV experience is required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. The programme is supported by the Department for Education and York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority, as part of the Government’s Skills for Life strategy, aiming to boost employment through targeted training.
Participants will gain insight into the evolving demands of the industry, from traditional craft skills to digital techniques. The programme offers a mix of workshops, site visits, and industry talks, with collaboration from leading partners like Viridian FX, XPLOR, and Production Park Wakefield.
In addition to gaining technical skills, participants will work on a collaborative project, bringing together different departments to simulate real-world production..
After completing the bootcamp, Screen Yorkshire will continue to support participants, helping them navigate future opportunities within the screen industries.
