Supernatural crime mystery filmed in Yorkshire

The Irregulars, Netflix’s new supernatural crime series shows the world of Sherlock and Watson as you’ve never seen it before. The eight-part series, which will be released on the streaming service in the UK from 26th March, filmed in one of Yorkshire’s most striking country houses Wentworth Woodhouse and across the North West, in Manchester and Liverpool.

Set in Victorian London, the series follows the titular ‘Irregulars’, a gang of street-teen misfits, who are recruited into solving crimes by a disconcerting Doctor Watson and his business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes. Things take a turn when the crimes reveal an emerging paranormal force and the Irregulars realise that it is not just the streets of London that are at risk but the entire world.

We were delighted to be one of the key locations for The Irregulars. Filming at night provided the current Wentworth team with a new challenge but we embraced the opportunity and had a really great experience with the crew who were all so professional and easy to work with. Wentworth Woodhouse has doubled for period London and royal palaces on many productions and this versatility makes it an attractive location for film & TV

Filming Locations

The Irregulars filmed across the North West in Manchester and Liverpool with the production coming to Yorkshire to film extensively at Wentworth Woodhouse.

Wentworth Woodhouse provided us with a wonderful location at which to create the street where 'The Irregulars' live. The enthusiasm for the project and the warm welcome we received was fantastic. Doubling also as parts of Buckingham Palace, the house was a great place to film

The Irregulars is written by Watership Down and My Mad Fat Diary‘s Tom Bidwell who also executive produced along with Drama Republic’s Jude Liknaitzky (My Mad Fat Diary, Doctor Foster) and Greg Brenman (Peaky Blinders,
The Honourable Woman). The series is produced by Rebecca Hodgson (Good Cop, Deep Water) and lead director is Endeavour‘s Johnny Allan with Joss Agnew (The Split, Poldark) and Weronika Tofilska (Last Train) also directing.

The prestigious young cast of irregulars includes Thaddea Graham (Curfew, Us, The Letter for the King), Jojo Macari (Sex Education, Harlots, Cursed), Darci Shaw (Judy, The Bay), Harrison Osterfield (Catch-22) and Mckell David (The Gentleman, Patrick, iBoy). With Royce Pierreson (The Witcher, Wanderlust, Judy) as Dr. John Watson and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve, Les Misérables, Now You See Me 2) as Sherlock Holmes.
