Military Wives has been made available to rent online, straight out of the cinemas. Filmed in Yorkshire, Military Wives centres on a group of women from different backgrounds whose partners are away serving in Afghanistan. Faced with their loved ones’ absences, they come together to form the very first military wives choir, helping each other through some of life’s most difficult moments, and quickly find themselves on an international stage. Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty) directs Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan in this feel-good crowd-pleaser inspired by true events.

We had a fantastic experience filming Military Wives in Yorkshire, the variety of locations, fantastic crew combined with the friendly and much valued support and ‘can do’ attitude from everyone across the board, all contributed to making this film turn out so well.

Filming Locations in Yorkshire

Military Wives filmed extensively at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, home of the original Military Wives Choir and the largest British Army garrison in the world.  Other Yorkshire locations included Rudding Park Estate and Almscliff Cragg near Harrogate.  Studio filming and other locations were shot in the south of England.

Yorkshire is a wonderful region to film in with an excellent film-friendly infrastructure. We had support from Screen Yorkshire’s Film Office who made the process of finding and accessing filming locations so easy; and the MoD were also incredibly supportive during filming at Catterick Garrison. It is always a pleasure to film in Yorkshire.
