FIRST SPARKS - CALL OUT TO WRITERS FOR APPLICATIONS
This funding is to support the development of high quality projects from writers based in the Yorkshire and Humber region.This strand is open to individual writers looking to work with a recognised industry script editor or mentor to develop either a treatment or a script for a feature film. Awards are up to £1,500 for script development with a smaller amount expected for treatment development and projects that have already reached draft stage. SPARK PLUS - CALL OUT TO PRODUCERS
There are two strands available under this funding priority:Strand 1: Producer Led Development
This strand is open to Yorkshire and Humber based producers and production companies looking to work with Yorkshire and Humber writers to develop feature projects. This strand also covers costs for additional editor and mentor support should you choose (though it will be part of the award).
Strand 2: Seed Funding
This funding is to support producers and production companies with projects once they have completed script development. You do not need to have previously received Screen Yorkshire development funding to apply for this strand.
Awards will be made up to £10,000. Match funding must be provided at a minimum of 30% of the total project costs. This amount can be provided as cash or in kind support. These strands will have a single deadline: 03 September 2010. More info>
SCRIPT READING SERVICE
Screen Yorkshire offers a professional script reading service to companies and individuals in the Yorkshire and Humber region. This service is available for feature film scripts, television projects and detailed treatments. Please note this service is not available to short film scripts.
Film Toolkit
The Film Toolkit is a new venture in production know-how for filmmakers in Yorkshire and Humber. It has been designed to integrate key events with training information and resources for filmmakers in the region.
UK Film Council £15M Film Fund
The UK Film Council has published its three year plan and launched its new £15m Film Fund for emerging, experimental and world class filmmakers.

BRADFORD CITY OF FILM BURSARY SCHEME
With funding from West Yorkshire Grants, Fabric, on behalf of City of Film, is delighted to announce the first Bradford City of Film Bursary Scheme. This scheme will offer small bursaries of up to £250 to creative individuals and companies to enable them to do things that will result in developing their careers in the film industry.

UnderWire Festival Launches to Recognise Female Filmmakers
The UnderWire Festival aims to showcase the raw cinematic talents of women with four days of screenings and events in London from 18th - 21st November 2010. With a particular focus on filmmakers at the beginning of their careers, the festival will bring attention to the work of women, who are still massively underrepresented in the film industry. The closing date for submissions is 10th September.
Zoom - Call for Applications
The BSLBT Zoom Short Film Scheme for Deaf filmmakers is running again. Zoom awardees are given £2K as well as production and post production support to make a short film in British Sign Language. This year also sees the launch of Zoom Focus which gives previous Zoom awardees the opportunity to win £4,000 as well as production and post production support. *Deadline: 17 September 2010

Writing for Continuing DramaQ&A Session with John Yorke
Screen Yorkshire and BBC Writersroom welcomed BBC Controller of Drama Production and New Talent, John Yorke, to Leeds for a Q&A session aimed at individuals hoping to get a foot in the door of writing for television. John and the panel members answered audience questions about writing for Continuing Drama shows such as EastEnders, Holby City, Casualty and Doctors, as well as the BBC Drama Writers Academy.
Joining John on the panel were BBC Writers Academy Development Producer Ceri Meyrick and Continuing Drama writers Claire Bennett and Tom Bidwell. The panel was chaired by Kate Rowland from BBC Writersroom.
