DIGITAL SHORTS SCHEME 2008/09

The Digital Shorts programme is our short filmmaking scheme for emerging talent, run in partnership with the UK Film Council. We are looking for the region's best and most innovative filmmakers who can demonstrate new and exciting approaches to filmmaking. Films can be of any genre including those within fiction, animation and creative documentary, as well as projects that cut across these categories.

Screen Yorkshire will be commissioning a total of ten films over two years under the CAUGHT SHORT strand. In year one (2008), we will commission four films on budgets of £10,000 and two films on budgets of £16,000. One of these six films will be commissioned under a new strand aimed at Animators: 4MATIONS. In year two (2009) we will commission four films on budgets of £16,000.

DIGITAL NATION (formerly Digital Shorts Plus) is an opportunity to join a nationwide talent pool and participate in an intensive tailored development process designed to hone your script and your voice as a filmmaker. At the end of this development process the UK Film Council and Screen Yorkshire will choose 6 films, each to be made at a budget of between £18,000 and £20,000.

HOW DO I APPLY?
The application deadline for CAUGHT SHORT Year 1 and DIGITAL NATION has now passed. Please refer to the GUIDELINES for information relating to the next steps of the application process, plus how to apply for CAUGHT SHORT Year 2 and 4MATIONS. As we receive a large amount of enquiries about the scheme we ask that you please read these carefully to avoid any unnecessary questions regarding the application process.
