Numiko deliver Twitter-tracker for E4's Desperate Scousewives (09/12/2011)

Building on the great success of Made in Chelsea, E4 has just launched a new series, Desperate Scousewives.  Based in Liverpool, the constructed reality series follows the strong, independent women and the boys who want to be with them, all aspiring to make a name for themselves in the city famous for its big personalities, big dreams and even bigger hair.

Numiko were asked to create a Tweet-O-Meter for E4.com – an app that charts the popularity of the different Scousewives by pulling in the latest 500 tweets and updating every 30 seconds, tracking mentions of the characters' usernames. Users can then follow the app throughout the series seeing who's popular and who's not!

Numiko have created a fun and quirky way of displaying the results, using caricatures of the lead characters that grow or shrink depending on their popularity.

Thom Gulseven, Online Producer for Entertainment said: “Twitter is a hotbed for chatter around constructed reality shows, and since the cast of Scousewives are all big tweeters in their own right, it made perfect sense for us to capitalise on this activity.  Our Numiko app takes the real-time stats around the ‘talkability’ of each cast member and presents it back to the audience in the slightly tongue-in-cheek, irreverent way that we love at E4.com. It’s a great way of tracking the discussion during the episode."
