Screen Yorkshire launched Vital Statistics in 2008 as the first of a range of new initiatives to support growth across the sector in Yorkshire.

Vital Statistics is a simple business analysis and support process developed specifically for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). To be eligible for this scheme you should have been trading in Yorkshire EITHER for around two years OR with a minimum turnover of over £100,000. We have recently changed the criteria to be able to offer support to a wider range of companies. Although the guidelines to our Business Investment Fund remain the same, Vital Statistics is now open to companies that meet one of the above criteria, to allow more companies to receive the benefits of the scheme and to meet with our Business team to discuss the various ways that we can support your company. This might include access to commissioners and industry contacts, introductions to regional partners to work jointly on cross platform projects, funding for company training, subsidies for attendance at Broadcast/PACT conferences, access to sourcing regional crew and emerging talent for your company, plus general advice.

The Vital Statistics scheme is a benchmarking and business consultancy tool resulting in a detailed 23 page analysis report. The report is based on information that you provide during a 20 minute interview session with a member of Screen Yorkshire's business team. Part of the analysis will require you to share with us a copy of the last two year's full audited accounts, which are of course treated confidentially - as is the whole process..

What are the benefits?

For You: It gives you, free of charge, an objective report on your company which:
· allows you to compare your company's performance with your peers on a national scale in purely commercial terms
· gives you a coherent picture of where your company is now - in a format that you can use to decide how best Screen Yorkshire (or others) can help you.
· provides you with a discussion document to stimulate your thinking about issues that are holding you back, or opportunities that you could seize to move forward.

For Us: It helps us build an accurate picture of the industry which will help us target our business support more effectively.

For companies that meet both of the criteria (i.e established for two years with a turnover of £100,000 pa) Vital Statistics is the first step if you are looking to apply to our Business Investment Fund.
