made in yorkshirewuthering heights
Mammoth Screen returned to Yorkshire in 2008 following the success of their shoot for Lost in Austen to film a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights for ITV. Leading contemporary screen and television writer Peter Bowker was commissioned to adapt Emily Bronte's world famous love story for the two part drama, which stars Tom Hardy as Heathcliff alongside Charlotte Riley as Cathy (pictured).
Filming took place at several locations across West Yorkshire and The Yorkshire Dales. Wuthering Heights distinguished swedish cinematographer Ulf Brantas, who swapped his native landscape for Yorkshire says:
''We had the opportunity to shoot in some amazingly beautiful locations in and around the moors, and it is hard to pick one day or a specfifc location that was my favourite. There were quite a few moments, though, when I was sincerely telling myself to try and do justice to it all.''
Wuthering Heights is supported by Screen Yorkshire through its Production Fund. The two-part drama is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
